Texas Instruments - TI-RFid

Introduction
Texas Instruments Radio Frequency Identification (TI-RFid? Systems is an industry leader in radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and the world's largest integrated manufacturer of RFID tags, RFID smart labels, and RFID reader systems. Approaching 500 million RFID tags manufactured, TI-RFid?technology is used in a broad range of RFID applications worldwide including automotive, contactless payments, laundry, library, livestock, pharmaceutical & healthcare, retail supply chain management, and ticketing.

TI is an active member of many standards bodies, including EPCglobal, ISO, ISO/IEC, ECMA International, ETSI, and several national standardization bodies working to drive the adoption of global standards for RFID.

Product
Texas Instruments offers several different RFID technology platforms and a wide variety of tags and readers. Platforms include: low frequency (134.2 kHz), high frequency (13.56 MHz), and ultra-high frequency (860 - 960 MHz). Tag products are battery-free, can be read only and read/write, have choices in security features, and include a range of memory sizes.

Within the low frequency family of tags, the different series of products include: The Glass Capsule Series, Compact, Disk Series, Badge and Card, Low Profile Series, and Vehicle and Container Series. Tags come in many different sizes and shapes, and have many choices for mounting and attaching. All transponders are battery-free; getting their power source from the reader signal. Read ranges are between 20 cm and 200 cm. Memory sizes are from 64 bits to 1360 bits. These transponders can be read through virtually all nonmetallic material.

The Tag-it?RFID platform offers smart label transponder inlays that are small enough to be laminated between layers of paper or plastic to create low-cost "smart" labels for high volume applications like airline baggage and express parcel identification and tracking. This system operates at 13.56MHz and 860 - 960 MHz, is offered in either read only or read/write versions, and can process multiple tags in the read field at the same time. These inlays are offered in a variety of memory sizes to allow for design flexibility based on the application need.

The UHF Smart Label family is designed for passive RFID smart labels and tags serving Retail Supply Chain and other Supply Chain application which require longer read range and higher tag singulation. Conforming to the EPCGlobal Gen2 version (1.09) specification, the inlays, straps, and die are engineered for higher performance and lower power consumption via the most advanced 130 Nanometer RFID semiconductor processing node.
